The WannaCry Virus & Managed IT Services

cybersecurity shield

What we can do for you: Our services for cyber attack protection.

As you may have learned over the last couple of days from national news coverage, a cyber attack using the ransomware known as “WannaCry” (or WannaCrypt) has impacted organizations and businesses of all sizes. According to the latest reports, the attack was discovered on Friday, May 12 and quickly spread to at least 150 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, France and Japan.

As a Warwick Managed IT Services customer, our pro-active approach will guard your systems against these types of cyberattacks. We deploy and update all the necessary malware and security patches on a regular basis to prevent “WannaCry” and other cyberattacks from impacting your network and business operations.

Microsoft has recommended the installation of the MS17-010 patch as a preventative measure against this attack. In addition, Warwick has whitelisted, effective immediately, additional security updates that were not included in the MS17-010 patches and one which was just recently published by Microsoft, which will help prevent the attack. While there is no way to completely prevent these cyberattacks from happening, Warwick’s Managed IT services team is taking every precaution to provide your network best-in-class protection, and give you the peace of mind that comes with it.

Cybersecurity experts also recommend that you back up all your data and files on a regular basis as part of your overall network security solution.

If you do not have a data back up and business continuity plan in place, or would like an evaluation of your current solution, please contact us to schedule time to speak with one of our IT technology consultants.
